You are invited to witness a durational performance of labor by Frau Fiber, a textile superhero who advocates for the labor behind the labor of the fast fashion supply chain. Tuesday, March 25, 2025, marks the 114th Anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company Fire, which burned on the 8th, 9th, and 10th Floors of the Ashe Building near Washington Place in New York City, killing 146 workers. This year's anniversary marks Frau Fiber’s 14th year commemorating this labor atrocity by doing a shift of shirtwaist production, sewn on a hand crank sewing machine. The 146 shirtwaist blouses were patterned and cut in 2011. To date, 57 blouses have been completed. Thank you to Catapult and Nick Sile for supporting the presentation of this work. Photo Credit.
