GAZING B(L)ACK BY CHRIS LOTT: Gazing B(l)ack is a peek into visibility and perception from the stance of the Black figure model. Playful figurative drawings encourage the viewer to do more than spectate. This is an invitation to reflect on the power of our gaze, while further humanizing and softening the inherent beauty of Blackness. THERMAL SHUTDOWN BY DAVID SULLIVAN “Thermal Shutdown” by David Sullivan is comprised of experiments with machine learning directed by human imagination. David Sullivan creates prints, computer programs and animations combining analog and digital techniques. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and grew up in New Orleans, where he currently lives. He studied painting at Louisiana State University (BFA) and Maryland Institute, College of Art (MFA).
