A new Visual Arts Cooperate/Gallery is slated to open in Hell’s Kitchen in early 2025! We’re looking for at least 15-20 visual artists interested in selling their art at this new space. It would be a 60/40 split. There’s no membership fee and all expenses would be covered. The only requirement is to work a few hours a week at the space. This space (about 750 square feet) is at 44th between 8th and 9th (sadly, Domus is going out of business). Some more details… A little about me. I run a small lawyer firm out of my apartment in Hell’s Kitchen and don’t have an artistic bone in my body, but I’m passionate about the arts and the HK community (I have lived here for over 20 years). To make this work, I need approximately 15-20 artists (ideally from diverse backgrounds/demographics) to express interest. An independent committee would weigh in on the artwork (and combination of artwork) appropriate for the space, and there would be clear (and fair) rules, but this is for down the road. The landlord supports the idea and is willing to renovate (within reason). I don’t want the landlord to rent the space to someone else, though, so the timing is a bit tight. There is no need to formally commit to anything right now, but it would be great to get a headcount of those interested ASAP. Accordingly, if you are interested, please email me at dmcgrail@mcgrailbensinger.com in the next few days. In that email, please include your name and a link to your artwork. I would be happy look at the space with you individually or as part of a group and/or have a cup of coffee (my treat!) next door. Let’s do this! Dave McGrail
