We want YOU to submit art for our third annual juried art exhibition, Los Vivos y Los Muertos! Los Vivos y Los Muertos 2025 is an exhibition featuring art that explores and honors the cultures, heritage, traditions and rich history of Mexico and the southwest United States with a concentration on work inspired by Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). This juried exhibition is being hosted by Brazosport Fine Arts Council will be held on site at The Center for the Arts & Sciences from October 7 through November 2, 2025. REGISTER & APPLY online now! (Lea el prospecto completo en español.) Emerging and established artists (ages 16 and above) are invited to submit images of completed work for consideration. Submission is open to the public through September 8. The entry fee is $15 per submission, up to 3 submissions. No additional, incomplete or late submissions will be accepted. A Best in Show prize of $1,000 will be awarded to a single piece. A single “runner up” prize of $300 will also be awarded. We will accept all genres and styles that fit with the theme of the exhibition, both 2D and 3D. Eligible media includes, but is not limited to, paintings, oil, chalk, pastels, ink, drawings, photography, mixed media, ceramics, sculptures, metal work, wood work and fiber art. All works must be the original concept of the artist. A reception and awards presentation for artists accepted into the exhibition and their guests will be held on FRIDAY, October 10 from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM. Brazosport Fine Arts Council, Lake Jackson Historical Association, Brazoria County Historical Museum, Brazoria County Library System, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Brazoria County and the League of United Latin American Citizens are collaborating this fall to honor Hispanic & Latino culture with a monthlong, county-wide celebration of Dia de los Muertos throughout October and early November 2025.
