Antenna is a 501(c)(3) non-profit multidisciplinary cultural institution presenting exhibitions and public programs, publishing, residencies, and regranting. We provide institutional support for local, national, and international cultural contributors and cultural bearers who produce visual and performance art; digitally printed book arts; participatory and socially engaged projects in public space at the intersection of Identity, the Environment, Renewable Resources, Abolition, and Restorative Justice, and Gulf South Histories.
Artivism Dance Theatre (ADT) is a collective dedicated to bringing awareness and generating discussion of social issues to a wide range of audiences. We tell our own stories in an effort to reach across divisions, find commonality, and spark change. We prioritize communication of social message over esoteric performance, often using multimedia techniques in our work. We believe that art, and specifically movement, can communicate perspective and experience across gaps in culture, language, and tradition that might otherwise remain unbreachable. The collaborative is comprised of dance professionals with years of experience in both performance and instruction. Trained in a great variety of techniques Artivism's repertoire displays the expertise of company members ranging from movements of the African diaspora to Ballet. We believe in the power of movement to transform our health, our lives, and our communities. Our studio is a space where humans of all walks of life can come and move their bodies! We offer dance, fitness, and yoga with classes for ages 3 and up. We are committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. Our focus in social activism includes a financially accessible payment policy and scholarship program.
Arts Council of New Orleans mission is to improve the quality of life in New Orleans by supporting, activating, and investing in our city's greatest natural resources: our artists, cultural producers, and the creative community. Building on our community's abundance of cultural wealth and creativity, the Arts Council envisions a New Orleans in which arts and culture play a pivotal role in all areas of policy, planning, and placemaking. To pursue a more equitable, joyful, and resilient city, art and artists should be central to all community and economic development efforts – from public health to public safety, education to infrastructure. The Arts Council has operationalized its commitment to advancing equity in its work through staff recruitment and hiring, board development, purchasing practices, and resource allocation.
A Studio in the Woods, located in eight forested acres on the Mississippi River in Bulbancha/New Orleans, is dedicated to forest preservation, science-inspired art engagement, and providing a peaceful retreat for artists and scholars who are tackling the challenging issues of our time with power and imagination.
